Start your day exploring the so-called North Pole of Vietnam. The term describes the northernmost region of Vietnam, also known as the Vietnamese Arctic. This is a special place to visit for tourists as well as locals, since Vietnamese people are immensely proud to set foot in a place this large. The scenery around Lung Cu is breathtaking. The flagpole itself is a spiral staircase that you can climb to the height where the flag was raised, a point which will reward you with an even better view of the surrounding landscape. Continue your journey to the residence of King H’mong, a monarch that reigned during the French colonial period. The palace attracts special attention due to its interesting architecture - a mixture of traditional Chinese and medieval European styles. It is located in the Sa Phin commune of the Dong Van district in the northernmost region of Vietnam. In the early 19th century, the Vuong family ruled the region with Vuong Duc Chin, the head of the family, proclaiming himself “King of the H’Mong” and consolidating his power by building this special palace-fortress. Continuing the adventure, your next stop brings you to the Lao Xa Village which fascinates with its up to 80 years old houses. The houses were all built according to the traditional H’Mong architecture and therefore have a very similar construct of a one-walled house, divided into three rooms with thick clay walls and a solid column system. An always flickering fireplace keeps the local families warm day and night. After another short drive, you arrive at your last destination of the day, the Nam Dam Village, where you will spend your night in the cozy Ly Quoc Thang Homestay.
